This weekend’s Planet Ice National League fixtures for your GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison, are against the Telford Tigers and Hull Seahawks.

On Saturday evening we will welcome Telford to the Silverdome Arena, where the face off is 6.30pm.

7th placed Telford Tigers are on 25 points from 33 games, 2 points ahead of Bristol Pitbulls in 8th and 4 in front of the Bison in 9th. Although, we have played one game less than both of these teams, therefore Saturday’s game has added importance to both sides.

No doubt the Stampede will go into the game with renewed confidence on the back of a highly impressive 5-3 victory in Telford last Sunday, although naturally both coaches will point out that result won’t count for much come face off on Saturday and there are 2 points to be battled for.

Sunday’s game in Humberside against the Seahawks means a 450 mile round trip for the team and supporters, face off at the Hull Ice Arena is 5.30pm.

After a difficult beginning to the season for Hull, which saw them missing both Imports due to permit issues and playing short benched most weeks, the duo of Emil Svec and Andrej Themar arrived in the UK during November and hopes of an improvement were raised. Although, Svec immediately collected a 10 game ban as a result of an incident during his debut for Hull against Telford.

It was the return of Themar to the club, along with an overall strengthening of the roster which was to spark a series of positive results, these have seen Seahawks move out of last place. Currently they have 15 points from 34 games, courtesy of 7 wins and an OT loss.

Last weekend, Hull welcomed back onto the ice, Head Coach/Player Matty Davies, following a lengthy spell on the sidelines. This is a huge boost to have a player of his quality available to them as they aim for the final play-off spot.

As for the Bison, winning in Telford following a deeply disappointing home defeat the previous evening, will have done wonders for players and fans alike.

With both fixtures being against teams in and around us, this weekend becomes doubly vital in the fight for an end of season play-off spot.

Bison fans, you know what’s required from you……..

Loud, Louder, Loudest.
