During Saturday evenings game against the Telford Tigers, British forward Aidan Doughty suffered a freak injury whilst taking an awkward hit during the third period of the game and was stretchered off the ice.

Aidan was taken to Basingstoke hospital and having had x-rays was then transferred to Southampton hospital,  yesterday afternoon (Monday) he had surgery on his broken lower back.

His family have confirmed this morning that the operation went well and everyone at the GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison wish Aidan well and will support him during his ongoing recovery.

With Aidan being a self-employed electrician and with a long road of recovery ahead of him, Club Captain George Norcliffe and defenceman Brendan Baird have set up a gofundme page for anyone who would like to donate to help Aidan during his recovery period.

You can do so at the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/doughtys-road-to-recovery?utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1&utm_medium=chat&utm_source=whatsapp
