Earlier this evening we spoke with Aidan’s father, Geoff and on behalf of the Doughty family he wanted to say the following:
“On behalf of myself and Aidan’s family I would like to offer my utmost thanks to the whole hockey community who have sent their best wishes and blessings to Aidan since his injury occurred on Saturday. As you can all imagine the last few days have been unbelievably stressful and worrying for us all.
Thankfully Aidan had a successful operation to repair his broken back and is already on the road to recovery.
The Response to the “go fund me” page set up by Brendan Baird and George Norcliffe has left me lost for words. I can not thank you all individually but would like to say that I am truly indebted to each and every one of you.
I am sure myself and the club will send further updates on Aidan/s progress but for now thank you all from the bottom of my heart”.
In the last few days the club has been inundated and overwhelmed with the messages of support shown to Aidan not just by fans of the Herd but by fans of clubs up and down the country, also from team mates both past and present, along with messages of support from the other member teams of the Planet Ice National division and beyond.
We wish Aidan a successful recovery and we look forward to seeing him back in the arena in the very near future, and ultimately back on the ice in the Bison jersey.
The Go fund me page has this evening exceeded £9,000.00 and that’s testament to amazing support from the hockey family across the UK, if you would like to donate to the fund please do so at the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/doughtys-road-to-recovery?utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1&utm_medium=chat&utm_source=whatsapp
