As exclusively revealed this morning in the Basingstoke Gazette, the GalxC Cooling Services sponsored Basingstoke Bison are pleased to announce defenceman Brendan Baird has re-signed for the 2022/23 season.
For 26 year old, 5’ 9”, 82 kg Baird, this will be his 3rd season in Basingstoke, the first being the 2014/15 EPIHL season in which he made a total of 40 appearances.
Over the next few seasons Brendan played for Wightlink Raiders, Oxford City Stars & Streatham in NIHL1, before moving to Bracknell Bees, where spent the next 2 seasons making 87 appearances and contributing 42 points (10+32).
Although Baird signed to play for the Bison in the 2020/21 season the Pandemic put paid to that plan, therefore it was the 2021/22 season before he was able pull on a Bison jersey once again, this time making 61 appearances, scoring 22 points (2+20) and incurring 94 penalty minutes.
Head Coach Tait commented on Brendan being back in Bison uniform,
“It’s great to have Bren back again. He’s one of our core d men, comes to play every night and and gets on with it which makes my decisions easier!”
Brendan himself had this to say on re-signing with the Stampede,
“Super excited to be playing for the bison again this season. Really excited to see all you noisy fans in September!
The Stampede to 2022 / 23 continues this weekend so Bison fans keep your eyes peeled on the club website and social feeds for more signings and news as we get ever closer to the start of the season when we welcome Bees hockey to Basingstoke on the 3rd September.
