Earlier this week the news of Andre Payette’s sudden and untimely passing rocked the UK ice hockey family.
At tonight’s game against the Telford Tigers the GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison welcome all fans attending the game to join us in 1 minutes applause in recognition of Andre prior to the national anthems.
We ask all fans to be in their seats please by 6.25pm.
Though never a Bison player he was well known to the Basingstoke fans , our coach & director from their days together in Coventry and in opposition against the Herd whilst playing for the Sheffield Steeldogs and working with the Hull Pirates.
Andre was liked and respected across British hockey. A larger than life character, his on ice tough guy persona only served to contrast the friendly face you receive off it.
We send our thoughts to his family, his young son Oliver, friends and former team mates at this time.
