Your GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison are thrilled to announce the return of number 29, yes, Alex Sampford is back in a Bison jersey for the remainder of 2022 / 23 season.
At the conclusion of the 2021/22 season, Alex decided to “take a break” from ice hockey, although he continued to train with the Stampede during the summer and now feels it’s time get back on the Ice.
25 year old, 6’ 0” tall Basingstoke born Sampford, has previously iced for the Herd in just over 140 games, therefore he is well versed in the Bison way.
We look forward to giving Alex a warm welcome when he takes to the ice this weekend subject to his registration being approved in time.
Head Coach Tait commented,
“Bringing Alex at this stage gives us a bit more depth and adds to our offense, and that’s a definite upside. It’s going to take a couple of weeks for him to get back into things but he knows the culture, the group and what’s expected already”.
Alex has this to say regarding his return to the Herd,
“Extremely excited to be back in Basingstoke!! I have been using the time to focus on things outside of hockey but I am ready to get back in the action. I want to thank Ash and everyone in Basingstoke for their understanding and allowing me to be welcomed back in to the team.”
Alex will wear his all too familiar number 29 jersey when he ices for the Herd this season, and his home warm-up jersey is now available for supporters to have the opportunity to purchase and loan back to the club Alex’s jersey through our ever popular Jersey “Own & Loan” scheme, if you are interested in applying for Alex’s home warm up jersey please send your application to hello@bstokebison.co.uk
