Hot on the heels of the announcement of Hallam Wilson, Adam Jones & Adam Harding earlier this week, the Basingstoke Bison can confirm that popular British forward Ryan Sutton will be returning for the second year of his initial contract signed prior to the start of the 2019 / 20 season.
26-year-old, Basingstoke-born Sutton is 5’ 9” tall, weighs 76kg and shoots left handed.
Ryan spent the 2016/17 season playing in the Canadian Greater Metro Hockey League, icing on 4 occasions for the Komodo Dragons and 24 times for the Tottenham Steam, before returning to the Bison for the 2017/18 NIHL 1 season, he iced for local rivals the Bracknell Bees in the 2018/19 season before returning back to Basingstoke for the 2019/20 season
Ryan has iced in 119 games for the Herd including 41 in the old EPIHL during the 2015/16 season and overall he’s scored 17 goals, provided 32 assists and incurred 49 penalty minutes.
Sutton commenting on being back for the Herd said,
“I’m really excited to be returning to the bison, as soon as the season was cut short last year I’ve been itching to get back out on the ice in front of the best fans in the league. Ash is putting together a great roster and I can’t wait to be a part of that hunt for some silverware”.
Coach Tait said on Ryan agreeing to be back for another season,
“I was quietly impressed with Sutts during the 2019/20 season as he just comes in and gets on with it with the minimum of fuss. Whilst he plays in most situations currently, I expect him to continue his progression and command more ice time”.
