This weekend for the GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison, it’s Planet Ice National League games against Raiders IHC and Sheffield Steeldogs.

On Saturday evening we welcome Raiders IHC to the Silverdome Arena for their first visit this season and due to the England v France World Cup game which kicks off at 7.00pm, the face off will now be 4.45pm and not the normal 6.30pm.

Saturday night is the night the Herd start wearing their Christmas jerseys and also the first night when we are asking fans of the Herd to donate food in aid of the Basingstoke Food Bank, all the details can be found here: https://impuk.bstokebison.co.uk/christmas-with-the-bison-food-bank-donations/

Raiders currently sit one place and 2 points above Bison, both teams having played 22 games.

Leading their scoring chart is Canadian import Matthieu Gomercic with 32 points (11+21) followed by British forward Harry Gulliver on 26 points (8+18).

A recent addition to the Raiders roster is none other than Alex Roberts who made 17 appearances for Bristol Pitbulls after leaving the Herd in the summer. The Roberts signing was announced in conjunction with the news that Erik Piatak had been released from his contract due to a knee injury which required surgery and a lengthy recovery period.

It’s a road trip to Yorkshire on Sunday, when the Herd travel to Ice Sheffield to take on the Steeldogs, face off is 4.30pm. Steeldogs have a firm grip on 4th place in the league standings, with 31 points courtesy of 14 regulation wins and 3 OT losses.

Canadian forward Matt Bissonnette heads Sheffield’s scoring with 28 points (11+17), just ahead of the highly promising Alex Graham who has 26 points (13+13).

With the continued absence of Jason Hewitt, Steeldogs Head Coach Greg Wood recently moved to strengthen his teams attack with the signing of 22 year old British forward Jordan Buesa from Elite League side Glasgow Clan. Although the return from injury of Lee Bonner must seem like another new player.

On the back of the first 4 point weekend for a while, no doubt Ash and the players will be looking forward with plenty of confidence to both games, of course Bison fans will be hoping the boys carry on from where they left off last weekend.

The Wall of Sound, you know what you need to do.

Loud, Louder, Loudest.
