A slight change to the normal routine this weekend for the GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison, we’re away on Saturday and home on Sunday.

Saturday’s game means a road trip to Milton Keynes to take on MK Lightning, face off is 7.00pm.

MKL currently hold 2nd place in the league standings as a result of their 5 game unbeaten run and are coached by Tim Wallace who succeeded Lewis Clifford this summer. Wallace joined the Buckinghamshire team as a player and Director of Player Development following his release from Elite League side Nottingham Panthers midway through the 2021/22 season.

One to watch: Callum Field (Forward) Shirt No 11

18 year old, 6’ 5”, 91kg Field is a product of the Sheffield IHA. 2021/22 was something of a breakthrough season for him, making 61 appearances for MKL and catching the eye of Coventry Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart, who gave him his Elite League debut.

Sunday’s opponents for the Bison are league new boys Bristol Pitbulls, face off at the Silverdome is 5.30pm.

The two sides met in pre-season action with the Herd being victorious in both games, naturally those results won’t count for very much on Sunday evening.

Bristol have endured a tough start to life in the National League and are yet to register a point, however, performances are improving week on week and recently they were less than a minute away from taking MKL to overtime.

Since the teams last met, Pitbulls’ 2nd import Canadian Owen Sobchak has received his international clearance and hit the ground running with a series of impressive appearances, all of which makes him an easy choice as my One to Watch.

Another new face in BS10 is Scott Jameison, the 21 year old, 6 foot forward has signed on a short term 2-way deal from SNL side Kirkcaldy Kestrels as cover.

As for the Herd, Ash and the team have been training hard this week with the aim of extending their 4 match winning run, Bison fans you can play your part in supporting the boys, either in MK, at home or both…….….you know how it goes.

Loud, Louder, Loudest.
