Your GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison are back in Planet Ice National League action this weekend, following two fine, but ultimately unsuccessful outings against Swindon and Hull, which yielded just one point. Understandably, the team will be aiming to return to winning ways.
In a change to the usual schedule, it’s Saturday away and Sunday at home.
First up for the Herd is a trip westbound along the M4 to face the Bristol Pitbulls, with the game facing off at 7.00pm.
In the race for the last 2 playoff spots, Pitbulls are currently in 9th on 29 points from 42 games, 5 points behind the Bison in 7th, also from 42 games. Therefore the importance of Saturday’s game to both teams is clear for all to see.
In the previous 4 games between the teams, the Bison have taken the points in 3 of them, most notably being the victory back in November, which saw us come back from 0-4 to win 7-4.
Naturally with so much at stake this time around, things may be somewhat tighter, certainly both defences will be hoping so.
On Sunday evening, title favourites Leeds Knights will ride into the Silverdome Arena, this game has a 5.30pm face off.
At the time of writing Leeds are level on points with MKL, although they top the league standings courtesy of a superior goal difference.
Their form of late has been a little erratic in comparison to that of earlier in the season, suffering 5 losses since the start of 2023 out of a total of 8 overall.
The two sides haven’t met since mid October when they beat us 3-1 in Basingstoke and 4-1 the following evening back in Leeds.
Undoubtably, it will be a tough ask for the Herd, but as the boys showed in MK recently, when they put in a 60 minute performance and lady luck is finally with us, we can beat anyone in this league.
Updated 15/02/23: Leeds have tonight beaten Raiders 5-2 in Romford, and are now 2 points ahead of MK, having played one game less than Lightning.
Without question, you, the fans of the Bison, can play your part supporting the team, should it be at one or both games, even via the various social media platforms.
You know the routine…………
Loud, Louder, Loudest.
