The GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison face an intense period of 3 games in 3 days this weekend, with away games against Swindon Wildcats and Bristol Pitbulls, before a home game with Raiders IHC.
First up on Friday night is a trip to the Link Centre in Swindon, face off is 7.30pm.
Wildcats with just 5 regular season games to play, have a firm grip on 5th place, courtesy of a healthy 8 point lead over Raiders in 6th and 5 points adrift of Steeldogs in 4th, incidentally 4th plays 5th in the playoffs, so that’s pretty much decided that quarter final match up.
Saturday’s game in Bristol, which is massively important to both teams, has a face off time of 7.00pm.
Pitbulls currently lie in 9th and are 6 points behind the Bison, although we have a game in hand over the West Country side, that game is our fixture with Raiders the following night.
A win in Bristol for the Bison would be a big step towards securing a playoff spot, whereas a win for the home team would give them a huge boost as they attempt to close the gap on the Stampede.
Sunday’s home game against the Raiders IHC will face off at 5.30pm, this game was originally due to be played back in November, but had to be cancelled because of the sickness bug which hit the Bison. Tickets for the original fixture are valid for this game.
Raiders in 6th have qualified for the playoff quarter finals, where as things stand they would face the Phantoms.
For the Bison it’s another chance to pick up some vital points in the battle for one of the remaining two places and dubious pleasure of facing either Leeds Knights or MK Lightning.
Last Saturday’s thrilling penalty shootout win over the Bees IHC was proof of the teams desire to secure one of those spots, however Sunday’s disastrous loss in Telford made that task somewhat harder than we’d all have liked.
Bison’s remaining league fixtures after this weekend are;
Sat 25th March: Home to Leeds Knights
Sun 26th March: Away to Leeds Knights
Sat 1st April: Home to Sheffield Steeldogs
Sun 2nd April: Away to Sheffield Steeldogs
