It’s a one game weekend for the GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison. That game is on Saturday when the Stampede travel to the Ice Sheffield arena to take on the Sheffield Steeldogs, face off is 7.30pm.

Coached by Greg Wood and Captained by the long serving Lewis Bell, Steeldogs currently occupy 4th place in the National League standings, 2 points and one place ahead of ourselves.

Their roster is predominately the same as last seasons, with a couple of additions for the 2022/23 season. Firstly, there is Latvian winger Valdislavs Vulkanovs, signed from Widnes Wild and secondly, Warren Tait, brother of Bison Head Coach Ashley. Warren signed from NIHL 1 side Sheffield Scimitars.

Incidentally, long-term fans of the Bison may remember Warren appearing for the Herd in the old EIHL during the 2008/09 season.

As for the Bison, despite falling to back to back defeats against league leaders the Leeds Knights last weekend, both performances were very encouraging and will have given Ash and the players a great deal of confidence for the upcoming fixtures.

Fans of the Stampede travelling to the game on Saturday, drive safely and remember, when you get there it’s………..Loud, Louder, Loudest.

Note to Moose: Hope the rink cuisine is up to the usual standard 🙂
