The last weekend of Planet Ice NIHL hockey action in November has the GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison playing just the one game.

On Saturday evening we welcome Hull Seahawks to the Silverdome Arena for a National League fixture, face off is the usual 6.30 pm.

Seahawks, formerly known as the Hull Pirates, were forced to sit out the 2021/22 season due to delays with their rink refurbishment but thankfully they have returned for the 2022/23 season under new owners. Matty Davies is now the Player/Head Coach and General Manager, while Hull-born Samuel Towner was appointed as Captain.

Currently sitting 11th in the league standings, Hull have endured a difficult start to life in the National League, as injuries to key players and Visa issues preventing both imports from entering the UK, a situation only resolved in recent weeks, meant the team has been forced to play short benched all season. Only 6 of their roster have been ever present which goes a long way to explaining why the Seahawks have only won twice this season.

However, the injury list has begun to reduce, additionally imports Emil Svec and Andrej Themár were finally allowed into the country, plus local lad Tom Ralph signed for his home club after a short spell with Bristol Pitbulls.

Bison Head Coach Ashley Tait and the players will have been thrilled not only with the result in Bristol last Saturday, a 7-4 victory from 0-4 behind, but also with the performance and fighting spirit shown in the game, no doubt the players have had a spring in their step at training this week.

Don’t forget Bison fans but this Saturday is also one of your opportunities to “Skate with the Bison” directly after the game, more details to be released tomorrow.

Fans of the Herd, you know what you need to do as the team look to make it back to back wins…..

………Loud, Louder, Loudest.
