Following on from their 4 point weekend against the Sheffield Steeldogs, your GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison have a second successive Yorkshire double-header, this time Leeds Knights are the opponents.
First up is Saturday’s home game at the Silverdome, face off is 6.30pm, before a trip to Elland Road on Sunday, where the face off is 5.15pm.
The Knights currently hold 6th place in the National league, having acquired 15 points from 17 games.
Leading the charge when it comes to scoring for the Knights is Brandon Whistle, who has racked up 37 points (21+16) in 16 league games (a stat which also sees him as the leagues top scorer),
Kieran Brown is a close 2nd, with 36 points (14+22) also from 16 games, next on the list is Adam Barnes, with 17 points (6+11) from 15 games played.
Leeds recently welcomed back their highly rated net minder Sam Gospel from injury, Gospel has an impressive 91.4 save percentage from his 11 games.
The two teams have only previously met once this season, an Autumn Cup game in Basingstoke, when the visitors won 3-1.
Over the last couple of months both teams have suffered with injuries, which no doubt has partially accounted for some disappointing results.
The Herd have certainly benefited from an easing on the injury front, results over the last two weekends have seen them not only pick up 7 points from a possible 8, but produce some entertaining and confidence boosting hockey along the way.
On Saturday night we have our annual “Air the Bear” event in conjunction with Naomi House all the details of how to prepare your bear ready for the event can be found here
Saturday night is also the second chance for the Bison family to donate to our Basingstoke “Food Bank” appeal, please leave your donations in the boxes adjacent to the merchandise table. For details on the items being most requested by the Food bank please see the following recent news article
Fans of the Stampede will be looking forward to more of the same from Ash and the boys, so make sure you’re in your seat come face off on Saturday night, and be part of the Wall of Sound.
