The GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison face a double header against the National League leaders Swindon Wildcats.

First up for the Bison is a Friday night trip to the Link Centre in Swindon, face off for this game is 7.30pm.

The return game at the Silverdome Arena on Saturday night faces off at 6.30pm.

The Wildcats, coached by Aaron Nell who last weekend reached the milestone of 1,000 points for the club, and captained by long-serving Sam Bullas, have made a high scoring start to the 2022/23 season and are currently unbeaten in 6 games.

In recent seasons Swindon have built an exciting style of play based around the strength and depth of their forward line, 5 of the 11 in the current roster are six foot plus.

Naturally these players stand out as they score the bulk of the goals, although for this writer the Wildcats key player and this weeks One to Watch is their number 11 Chris Jones.

31 year old Jones, in his 6th season with the Link Centre side, has made over 250 appearances, scoring 281 points (104+177) and it’s that figure of 177 assists which highlights his importance to the Wildcats in general but in particular to their forwards.

Let’s not forget Swindon’s defensive core in which Basingstoke born Dean Skinns partners Renny Marr guarding the pipes, and former Bison D-man Ollie Stone now is a part of.

A quick mention relating to their new import Colby Tower, who it turns out was a line mate of our own new boy Gaël Lubwele in the Nipissing University team from 2018 to 2022.

No doubt Bison Head Coach Ash Tait and the players will have been disappointed with last weekends results as much as the fans were, and are undoubtedly working hard in training to be ready for the Swindon games.

The Wall of Sound, you also have an important role to play this weekend, remember it’s Loud, Louder, Loudest, as of course DJ Bavy will remind you on Saturday night.
