It’s crunch time for the GalxC Cooling Services sponsored Basingstoke Bison as the Road to Coventry play-offs reach their climax this weekend, with a double header against the Swindon Wildcats.
All four teams in Group B are still in with a shout of making it to the Finals weekend. While the Sheffield Steeldogs are in prime position following their back to back wins over Swindon last weekend, there are multiple permutations as to which of Phantoms, Bison or the Wildcats will be the 2nd team to make it out of the group.
With Steeldogs being at home to Peterborough on Friday night, by the time the Bison and Swindon face off in the Silverdome on Saturday night at 6.30pm, the picture will be a touch clearer.
Swindon come into this weekend following a disappointing pair of results against the Steeldogs which sees them on 2 pts from 4 games and with a goal difference of -8.
Whereas, the Herd have 4 points from 4 games and -2 goal difference.
Although the Bison will have been equally disappointed with their home performance last Saturday, or at least the first 30 minutes, they redeemed themselves not only in the last 20 minutes of that game but again the following night in Peterborough, when despite going a goal down late in the 2nd period the boys dug in and completed a thrilling comeback in the 3rd with 2 goals from Ashley Tait and one from Alex Roberts, giving the Bison a deserved 3-1 victory.
No doubt Head Coach Tait will be telling the players they cannot control what happens between Sheffield and Peterborough, Saturday night in the Shed of Dreams is their only focus to begin with. It’s the final home game of the season and naturally the team, coaches, back room staff and the fans will be looking to finish on a high, before travelling to the Link Centre in Swindon on Sunday where the face off is 6.30pm, hoping put the icing on the cake by being one of the Final Four who will head to Coventry the following weekend.
Everyone who’s part of the Wall of Sound knows their role this weekend, DJ Bavy will be ready to fire you into action on Saturday and make sure you’re Loud, Louder and Loudest until the final buzzer. Sunday night will be DIY on the noise front for those of you making the trip to Swindon but of course this won’t be a problem, it’s the Bison way.
Let’s go Bison!!
