It’s a one game National League weekend for the GalxC Cooling Services Basingstoke Bison, luckily for fans of the Herd that game is a home one as Sheffield Steeldogs make the trip south to the Silverdome, where face off is the usual 6.30pm.
Steeldogs currently sit 4th in the table, having accumulated 31 points from 30 games, courtesy of 15 wins in regulation and a penalty shootout loss on their last visit to Basingstoke back in December.
Captain Lewis Bell, despite only being 30 years of age, is now in his 11th season with the Steeldogs and this season is his 4th wearing the ‘C’ on his jersey. It is no surprise to find the leading points scorers for Sheffield are the former Hull Pirates duo of Jason Hewitt, with 57 pts (29+28) and Matt Bissonnette, with 40 pts (4+36).
The net minding duties have been shared between Dimitri Zimozdra and Miles Finney, both have a save percentage of 90.3, although Zimozdra has started in more games.
Games between the teams are always close, competitive, fast-paced affairs and generally contain plenty of goals, no doubt fans attending the game on Saturday night will be looking forward to more of the same.
With only one game this weekend, I’m sure Coach Tait, Captain Dewey and the boys will be giving it everything from the first puck drop to the final buzzer, as they strive to pick up the points.
Don’t forget Bison fans……..Loud, Louder, Loudest.
Lastly, a reminder to ‘Moose’………….enjoy your Sunday off 🙂
