This weekend the GalxC Cooling Services sponsored Basingstoke Bison will be in National League action, with a home game against Telford Tigers and an away fixture with Slough based Bees IHC.

Saturday’s home game when we will welcome the league leaders Telford to the Silverdome, has a 6.30pm face off.

Tigers head the National League by 4 points from 2nd placed Swindon Wildcats, and they have a game in hand over the Wiltshire side.

Popular Scottish forward Scott McKenzie leads their scoring, having amassed 56 points (20+36) from 29 appearances this season, Tigers captain Jason Silverthorn is next on the list with 42 points (21+21) from 27 appearances.  Recent signing, Bayley Harewood has impressed since his arrival from Bees IHC, accruing 23 points (10+13) from just 6 appearances.

Tigers defence built around the experienced Jonathan Weaver, has 6 players 25 years of age and under, backed up by the talented netminder Brad Day, they are currently the only National league team to have conceded less than 100 goals.

Sunday’s game at the Slough Ice Rink is a 5.00pm face off.

The Bees occupy 8th place at present, 5 points behind the Bison, although they have played one games less than the Herd.

It’s no surprise to see their skilful Slovakian forward Dominic Gabaj heading the scoring, to date he has contributed 47 points (23+24) from 30 appearances, highly rated defender Edward Bradley is next with 33 points (11+22) also from 30 appearances.

The Bison head into the weekend on the back of a scintillating away win against Leeds Knights, no doubt Ash and the boys will be looking to build on that performance, firstly in front of the wall of sound and then the travelling band of fans in Slough.

If you’re going to either or both games, don’t forget,  it’s Loud, Louder, Loudest.
