It’s a one team, two game weekend for the GalxC Cooling Services sponsored Basingstoke Bison when they take on the National League leaders Telford Tigers, firstly at the Silverdome on Saturday night with face off being 6.30pm, then secondly in Telford on Sunday where face off is 6.00pm.
With 8 games of the regular season left to play Tigers sit top of the table, currently they head 2nd placed MKL by 7 points and Swindon Wildcats in 3rd by 8 points. All 3 teams have the same number of games remaining.
Head Coach Tom Watkins has built a roster with a mix of experienced senior players including captain Jason Silverthorn, Jonathon Weaver & Rick Plant and exciting young British talent in Bayley Harewood, Jack Hopkins and Finley Howells.
Leading the points scoring for Telford is the well travelled and highly respected Scott McKenzie, so far this season he has racked up 66 points (23+43) from 35 games.
Czech import forward Vladimir Luka is Tigers leading goal scorer with 26 from 26 games.
Telford have the 2nd meanest defence in the league, conceding just 130 goals in 40 games at an average of 3.25 per game. Guarding the pipes is Brad Day who has a save percentage of 90.5. With the exception of Weaver, they have a relatively young defence, their average age being 23.57 years.
So there we have it, a tough weekend lies ahead for the Bison, no doubt Ash and Tosh will have spent this week preparing the team for the challenge of facing the title favourites in back to back games.
Fans of the Herd be ready to play your part starting at 6.30pm on Saturday night, DJ Bavy is flying in from the Med to conduct the Wall of Sound into being Loud,Louder,Loudest.
